A verge tile is a special roof tile at the gable side or edge of the roof, which neatly closes the roof surface against the gable end and keeps out wind and rain. The tile has a turned-down edge that laps over the side of the gable or bargeboard.
Application
Verge tiles are laid along the sloping edge of the roof surface, where the roof meets the gable end. They provide a clean, tight finish and prevent wind from getting under the roof covering. They are supplied as left-hand or right-hand versions, depending on which gable side they finish.
Characteristics
A verge tile has an upstanding edge or apron on one side that covers the tile against the gable. They are available in the same models and colours as ordinary roof tiles, so the roof surface forms a single whole. Laid correctly, they connect to the ridge and ridge tiles and contribute to a watertight and windtight roof.
