A perforated brick is a fired clay brick containing vertical holes through its body, which reduce the amount of clay and weight required while improving the brick’s thermal insulation.
The holes run from top to bottom of the brick and are formed during extrusion. Because the air-filled voids interrupt the path of heat through the material, a perforated brick insulates better than a solid brick of the same size, while using less raw material and being lighter to handle.
