A Geka coupling (also GK coupling) is a standardised quick coupling for connecting hoses and water pipes quickly and without tools. Two identical halves are placed against each other and locked with a quarter turn, after which the connection is water- and airtight.
Application
The Geka coupling is widely used on the building site and in the gardening and agricultural sector, for example for dewatering, connecting water hoses and pumping water. Because each coupling half is the same (a symmetrical claw coupling), any hose fits easily onto another, regardless of which side you connect.
The coupling is available with a hose tail, with male or female thread, and as a shut-off version. A complete pipe system can thus be built up and dismantled quickly, which is a great advantage on a temporary building site.
Characteristics
Characteristic are the two claws that interlock and the rubber seal that makes the connection watertight. Because no thread has to be tightened, coupling and uncoupling is very fast. The coupling is usually made of brass or galvanised steel and withstands the rough conditions on site. For higher pressures there are heavier versions with a locking pin.
