A flake floor (also called a chip floor) is a seamless resin floor where decorative flakes (chips) are broadcast into a wet epoxy layer, creating a speckled, colourful surface. The result is a hard-wearing, easy-to-clean floor commonly used in garages, workshops and showrooms.
Build-up
A flake floor consists of multiple layers:
- Primer — bonding coat on the concrete floor
- Base coat — an epoxy or polyurethane coating
- Flakes — decorative chips broadcast into the wet base coat
- Top coat — a clear sealer that encapsulates the flakes and protects the surface
Application
Flake floors are popular in:
