A facade clip is a metal clip or clamp used to mechanically fix facade cladding, insulation boards or facade panels to the backing structure or the batten framework. The clip grips the cladding and provides a firm, often concealed anchoring.
Application
Facade clips are used in ventilated rainscreen facade systems, where the cladding is mounted at a distance from the insulation. Instead of screwing through the panels, the cladding is clipped in place, which produces a cleaner facade appearance and accommodates thermal movement (expansion). They are used with board materials, timber sections and brick slips.
Characteristics
Clips are usually made of stainless steel or aluminium so they can withstand weather and corrosion. They are screwed onto the battens and allow the cladding limited movement without coming loose. Because the fixing sits at the rear, the screws stay out of sight and the ventilated cavity remains intact for moisture drainage.
