A facade anchor rod is a threaded or anchor rod that connects the outer leaf or other facade parts to the load-bearing structure, transferring loads and holding the facade securely in place.
Where a screw anchor bites directly into the backing, a rod spans a distance and ties elements together over that gap. The facade anchor rod is fixed at one end into the structure and at the other to the outer leaf or facade component, keeping the two acting together.
How it works
- Fixed to the structure: one end is anchored into the load-bearing wall or frame.
- Connected to the facade: the other end engages the outer leaf or facade element.
- Load transfer: wind pressure and self-weight pass from facade to structure.
Application
Facade anchor rods are used where facade layers are separated by a cavity or space.
