A concrete pier is a precast or site-cast concrete block that serves as a foundation point, onto which a post bracket and timber post are placed. It is the most commonly used foundation method for lighter structures such as garden buildings, canopies, decks and carports.

Placement
1. Dig a hole (deeper than the pier, + 10 cm of gravel underneath)
2. Compact the gravel bed
3. Place the pier, level it
4. Check diagonal measurements (all piers relative to each other)
5. Fit the post bracket
6. Backfill around the pier with soil or gravel
